New joiners often avoid senior execs.
Instead, seek them out.
Here’s how:
1. Study them: What are they working on? What are their challenges?
2. Bring value: Identify one issue. Brainstorm possible solutions including time and cost requirements. If you’re too inexperienced, research a relevant industry topic and offer to present your findings.
Either way, you’re either helping them solve one of their challenges, or bringing them insights they didn’t have.
3. Ask for the meeting. If you have access, approach them directly.
Be respectful of their time, keep it short and to the point
4. Don’t feel intimidated. Execs appreciate those who bring them solutions, or who at least try to.
